  • Vray error: Sorry, can`t create output...second try

    Hello all,

Sorry to bring this up yet again but we get this error on completely brand new achine with 8GB of memory!!!

    its a Q9550 at 3.2Ghz, 8gb RAM at 820Mhz, windows vista 64bit as a operating system, vray latest 64bit , max 9 64bit with latest hotfix

i believe it is a BUG and not our issue

the scene were rendering eats up only 1500MB RAM!

so why do we get this at the end of the render? surely cannot be cos of low memory!

Vlado, could u please have a look at this?

Really drives us nuts as the only way to save file after somehours of render is to make a SCREEN GRAB!!!! therefore the render is useless completely

just imagine stitching all the layres in PS with pixel precision )))

i know a solution is to render to VRIMG, but we would really be very happy if this was sorted some other way.

Thank you very much for your attention

    bets regards
    Martin

    right....
i think i might have a possible object to blame and that is a network drive

    either that

or some stupid setting in vista

it does not let me save to network drive (i get the cant open output error)

but it lets me save to desktop

    any idea whats wrong?

Looks like a problem with permissions or quota for that network drive, or a full drive...

When starting to use Max and Vray in Vista x64 I had all kinds of trouble, then disabled UAC and everything ran smooth.

        hello
got all those things like UAC, indexing etc turned off on a clean install

strange thing its doing on all vista based computers...which also makes it impossible to sva animation frames to network drive

am waiting for a new NAS drive so i will soon see if the problem replicates on a new HW or wheter that is a Vista issue

glad its not a vray bug though ))))

Do the Vista-computers have a special profile with different permissions on the network than the XP-computers? Can you manually save stuff to that networkdrive?

yep...the network drive is normally accessible, although i have to admit it sometimes disconnects, however in these occassions the disk is fully working...

            really weird this

It could help to turn ON the Bitmap pager from the 3ds Max preferences.

              Best regards,
              Vlado

                    eheh, never mind :P
I suggested to save tiled exrs without framebuffer, before reading yours wasn't a memory issue
I then edited the post not to show everyone i'm a silly lad, but then you asked... :P
